Mean People Suck

When I created this blog, I was unsure about the direction I would take my football rants. Today I found my answer. Football is life. It is intertwined with almost every single event of my very linear and football obsessed existence. Today I was reminded, through football, that people suck.

So for those who are unaware I attend the University of Illinois and our campus literally lies right on the division line between Urbana and Champaign. Although I have only been here for 4 years, even an outsider can pick up on the uneven social and economic balance between the two towns. Champaign is wealthier, while Urbana is home to most of the . I am a volunteer coach at the local Park District in Urbana, IL and have coached Little League/Pee-Wee football for that last 3 years. For the first time I was put in charge of the older 5th/6th grade team, which is unique in that at this age group teams are no longer limited to other in-house teams as well, but other neighboring towns; including Champaign.

Our first match was this morning. Champaign's Real Madrid vs. Urbana's Tuesday (yeah Tuesday is our team name). We lost 4-2. After the match, another Champaign coach, who has just shown up with his team beacuse they were using the pitch next, notices that there are left over water and gatorade bottles along the side of the pitch. Most of these were there before we even arrived. Because I had gone to the other side, this Champaign man decides to pick out my players and their parents and bitches them out about how they are low-class filth and that they should not be able to use the Champaign Park District Fields. Degenerates like them who litter (I'll remind you it was not our trash) should remain where we came from, the Urbana Fields. What an asshole. If I was there when it all happened, I would have reciprocated the bitching right back at him.

People suck. Overall the familes and players who all participate in both the Champaign and Urbana league are the same people. Regardless of a slight economic different and a different zipcode, they are all multi-racial, wholesome and polite people who are there to enjoy the game and see their kids play. Fuck that guy. When I find out what his name was, I will post it...and his address too. Just cause he lives in Champaign, the guy thought he was better than everbody else, when in reality, he is the insecure and makes up for his lack of self-confidence by yelling at little kids.

In closing, people do suck. A man like this should not be allowed to take any part in children's athletics. As I said in the beginning, I've continue to be disheartened as I see how evil people truly are. It's time to go stare at some dancing grocery bags in the wind.
